While the World Series may have been a sad ending for the Toronto Blue Jays and their fans, a lucky winner of the 50/50 Jays Care Foundation lottery won the biggest pot in history at an astounding $25M.
The winner is Aric from Oshawa, he has declined any media interviews for now. and understandably so.
Heartbreak for Blue Jays, but not for 50/50 fan winner.
Michael Talbot of CTV News reported on the historic win for Aric, as he will collect the biggest pot in 50/50 history. The other 50% of the pot goes towards Jays Care foundation whom use to help out local communities in Ontario and around Canada.
"Jays legend Joe Carter shared the news with Aric via phone call on Monday morning. But for now, that's all we know, as Aric declined media interviews. The precise total take home prize was $25,010,057, with an unofficial winning number of 867814466. According to the Jays Care Foundation, the other half of all proceeds go directly to Jays Care programming in communities across Ontario and Nova Scotia."-Talbot
It's unfortunate it came after such a heartbreaking defeat, as the Blue Jays lost game 7 to the Los Angeles Dodgers in extra innings, after being up by two in the 8th inning. It was an unforgettable run for all the fans, and it will go down as one of the best game 7's ever played in sports, but Aric will remember it for much different reasons.
Congratulations to the biggest 50/50 jackpot winner in baseball history, Aric from Oshawa! 👏
Thank you, @BlueJays fans for raising a record-setting $25,010,057 this World Series. We truly appreciate your incredible support all season long! 💙
