The Toronto Blue Jays have been without Daulton Varsho for a few weeks now with a left hamstring injury and the team finally gave an update on his return.
Blue Jays announce injury update on Daulton Varsho
The Blue Jays have had Myles Straw and Jonatan Clase filling in for Varsho in June who both have been doing a great job in his absence but that does not mean the team could not benefit from having him back.
According to reports, there is unfortunately still no timeline on Varsho's return who already missed a good junk of the season recovering from shoulder surgery but the good news is that he seems to have started baseball activities.
Center fielder Daulton Varsho is working through a left hamstring strain that put him on the 10-day IL on June 1. Per MLB.com, there is no timeline for his return yet.
But due to increased activity, he could have a timeline soon. He missed the start of the season with right shoulder surgery and needed a rehab stint in the minors before he was activated on April 29. -Postins
There is a good chance that Varsho will need a rehab stint once he fully recovers since he will likely miss the entire month of June and possibly a little bit of July as well.
Varsho is not the only outfielder out right now as Anthony Santander and Nathan Lukes are also out and despite Santander starting to throw again it looks like he is nowhere near a return.
According to MLB.com, Santander is doing some baseball activities now, including throwing, at the team's complex in Florida. But he's not set to start hitting yet.
Worse, there doesn't appear to be a timeline for him to pick up a bat and begin taking swings. -Postins
While fans are not too concerned with Santander being out since he has been brutal this season, they desperately want Varsho to return to the lineup as soon as possible.
