Former Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Trent Thornton went down during a game the other day in which he needed to be carted off and it looks like his season is officially done according to the Seattle Mariners.

Most pitchers that have a season ending injury, it often has to do with their throwing arm which either ends up being a elbow or shoulder injury but Thornton had something else.

Former Blue Jays pitcher Trent Thornton is done for the season

In the 9th inning of the Mariners game against the Texas Rangers Friday, Thornton was on the mound and went down after trying to run to first base and had to be carted off the field.
The Mariners announced after the game that Thornton torn his Achilles on the play and has now been placed on 15 day IL but he is done for the season with this severe of an injury.
It's officially a torn achilles for Trent Thornton feel terrible for him. He was really pitching well the last month and a half. #Mariners
I am really hoping this is not an Achilles injury for Mariners pitcher Trent Thornton oh man
This is a devastating injury for Thornton who was having a decent season with the Mariners which has now come to an abrupt end due to this major injury Friday night.
Thornton spent 4 and a half season in Toronto before being traded to the Seattle Mariners back in 2023 as the Blue Jays received shortstop Mason McCoy in exchange.
At 31 years old, a torn Achilles will not be an easy injury to come back from for Thronton.
