Toronto Blue Jays closer Jeff Hoffman is in some seriously hot water after a brutal game against the Los Angeles Dodgers as he might be out of a job soon.
Blue Jays might look at other options for a new closer instead of Jeff Hoffman
After the game, fans as well as former Toronto news anchor Sid Seixeiro posted on social media stating that the Blue Jays need to move on from Jeff Hoffman as a closer.
Jeff Hoffman will not be the Blue Jays closer by September 1st. Maybe sooner.
Should Blue Jays fans be worried about Jeff Hoffman? Should Hoffman lose his role as the closer of the team? @StevePhillipsGM weighed in on Jeff Hoffman this morning on #FirstUp! Do you agree? Let us know!
While some believe that the Blue Jays should move on from his as the team's closer, other believe that Toronto should continue to give him time to improve since he has had moments of greatness.
No question, Jeff Hoffman was bad yesterday.
However, before that outing, he had a 2.86 ERA with 11.45 K/9, 1.64 walks per nine, and 13 saves in 24 games since June 1.
So far this season, Hoffman currently has a 4.50 ERA in 48 games with a total of 26 saves and a 7-4 record in 50 games which is far from the stat line most thought he would have at this point in the season.
While his season as a whole has not been great, Hoffman has been playing a lot better lately, as he has a 3.07 ERA with 19 strikeouts in his last 15 games.
