Toronto Blue Jays complete trade with the Detroit Tigers for right handed pitcher

The Toronto Blue Jays just announced that they have completed a one for one trade with the Detroit Tigers for right handed pitcher Chase Lee.
The Blue Jays have been rather quite over the last week as their last move came at the start of the Winter Meetings when they signed Michael Plassmeyer.
Blue Jays trade for Chase Lee
A trade between the Blue Jays and Tigers was just completed for Lee, a minor league pitcher who made his MLB debut this season finishing with 32 games in the majors.

The Blue Jays are sending Johan Simon, a left handed pitcher who most recently played Double-A for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats back to Detroit.

Minor-leaguer Johan Simon, a lefty who reached double-A New Hampshire last year, headed the other way.
Last season, Lee pitched 32 games for the Tigers in a total of 37.1 innings pitched and finished with a solid 4.10 ERA which included 36 strikeouts and a 4-1 record in his first MLB season.
Lee had a rough stretch to close out the season as he finished with a 13.50 ERA in his last 6.2 innings pitched in 2025 for the Tigers then spent the majority of the second half of the season in Triple-A.
This is an interesting move by the Blue Jays that could result in a new addition to their bullpen for 2026 depending on how he performs at Spring Training.
