The Baltimore Orioles announced this afternoon that they have reached an agreement on a long term deal with superstar Pete Alonso.
Alonso ended up opting out of his contract at the end of the season with the New York Mets and entered free agency which most insiders saw coming from the beginning of the off-season.
Orioles sign Pete Alonso to big contract
The Orioles announced this afternoon that they have landed one of the biggest free agents available in Alonso on a long term deal as he is headed for the AL East.
Alonso and the Orioles have agreed to a 5 year deal worth $155 million which will pay him an average salary of $31 million per season.
BREAKING: First baseman Pete Alonso and the Baltimore Orioles are finalizing a five-year, $155 million contract, sources tell ESPN. Alonso leaves the Mets to make a loaded AL East even better.
The Blue Jays won the division last year but due to a lot of big moves this off-season in an already stacked division, winning the AL East will not be easy next season.
Blue Jays fans are hoping that the Blue Jays respond to this signing with a big deal of their own which hopefully involves Kyle Tucker.
Your move King
This is a big move for the Orioles who had a tough 2025 campaign but will now look to have a big bounce year as it looks like they are not done adding to their roster just yet.
Toronto already has a great lineup as they continue to add pieces but they will be playing in arguably the toughest division in baseball next season which means that every single game will count.
