The Toronto Blue Jays have a lot of contracts coming to an end this season including CEO Mark Shapiro who is in the last year of his deal.

Shapiro spoke on his contract during a press conference in mid August stating that he wants to stay in Toronto and believes that Edwards Rogers wants the same.

Contract extension update on Marking Shapiro

The Blue Jays have had an incredible 2025 season that not many saw coming which has made Shapiro and GM Ross Atkins look great for the moves they pulled last off-season.
MLB insider Buster Olney announced recently that due to the successful regular season and deal made by Shapiro such as the Vladimir Guerrero Jr contract, the Blue Jays are expected to sign Shapiro this off-season.
"This is the last year of Shapiro's deal, and the Jays have had a summer of successes: Vladimir Guerrero Jr. signed an extension; the Jays surged into first place in the American League East; and more fans turned out to enjoy the renovations to Rogers Centre that Shapiro oversaw," Major League Baseball insider Buster Olney wrote for ESPN. "An announcement that Shapiro has signed an extension is expected at some point. If Rogers Communications, the sole owner of the Blue Jays, holds to form, that might not happen until the offseason." -Olney

Most believed that the Blue Jays would have to go on a deep run in the playoffs for Shapiro to secure a new contract due to his poor track record in the post-season but that does not seem to be the case.
The Blue Jays have yet to win a playoff game under Shapiro's leadership despite some very successful seasons which is why fans have questioned if they fail to go deep once again, maybe it is time for a change.
Due to recent reports and rumors, it looks like Shapiro's job is safe even if the Blue Jays do not go on a deep run but the same cannot be said for Atkins who has been his right hand man since he took over.
There is certainly some pressure for the Blue Jays to deliver this post-season as they have not won a playoff since 2015 which is now 10 years ago.
This great season by the Blue Jays could turn into a big problem depending on how the month of October plays out.
