Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Alek Manoah made his first rehab start with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats this evening and things went quite poorly for the former Cy Young finalist.

The Blue Jays announced this morning that Manoah would be pitching for the Fisher Cats this evening which had many hopeful that he was progressing in his recovery.

Blue Jays pitcher Alek Manoah has terrible outing in Double-A

Manoah took the mound this afternoon for the Fisher Cats and pitched 3 innings, giving up a total of 5 hits, 2 runs and 3 walks with only 2 strikeouts in 64 pitches.
Alek Manoah tossed 3+ innings in his AA rehab start tonight, marking his 3rd overall rehab outing. #BlueJays

3.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 3 BB, 2 K & 64 pitches (36 strikes)

Slider looked really strong at times. No official velo readings at AA for those curious.
On top of the rough numbers put up this evening, Manoah also lost control of a ball and hit one of the batters with a 91MPH fastball to the head but the player was thankfully not injured too bad as he stayed in the game.
Alek Manoah is down so bad he's hitting guys in the head at AA. Also, Chase Utley is going to love Aidan Miller.
Have some mercy and remove Alek Manoah before he causes any more damage - to self and others. #bluejays. That was painful to watch. Not sure what to make of that outing and what it means for his rehab progress?
Fans were hoping to get Manoah back right before playoffs in top form and hoping he would look more like the pitcher he was back in 2022 but for the moment that does not seem to be the case.
At this rate, if Manoah doesn't figure out his game, the Blue Jays will be in a very tough position because it would not make sense to move a pitcher that is playing well to make room in the starting rotation for him.
