Here are the Blue Jays' OPS leaders so far this Spring Training (min. 12 PA): 1. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (1.349) 2. Steward Berroa (1.308) 3. Alan Roden (1.240) Guerrero has quietly been the standout this spring, while Berroa and Roden have been major surprises!
Schneider also indicated that there isn't a clear front runner to take first base to put Guerrero Jr on 3rd permanently which likely means Vladdy will stay at first for the most part.
Blue Jays and Guerrero JR forge ahead in Spring Training
Both the Blue Jays and Guerrero Jr are continuing to prepare for opening day and the season that lies before them. Regardless of his contract status, Guerrero Jr has told the media that his heart is with the Blue Jays this season and that he will do everything he can to try to create a championship year.
Despite the dark clouds surrounding the organization and the fact that other players including Bo Bichette are without a deal certainly can make things difficult for some while others will absorb the adversity and push forward.
It's safe to say that all eyes will be on this team to see how they fare in the opening weeks of the season and if the Blue Jays have a fast start and play well, moods may change and perhaps maybe a phone call will come out of nowhere.
Both parties seemed keen to leave the door open even though Guerrero Jr has stated that the negotiations are over until the offseason which seems unlikely.
The Blue Jays lost 7-6 against the pirates at Lecom Park In Bradenton Fl.
