He joins Mark Buehrle as part of this year's group of 27 candidates. Results will be announced on January 20.
A few of Encarnacion's former teams including the Mets also made the announcement regarding Encarnacion's selection.
Daniel Murphy is one of 12 newcomers on this year's Hall of Fame ballot, joining Ryan Braun, Shin-Soo Choo, Edwin Encarnación, Gio González, Alex Gordon, Cole Hamels, Matt Kemp, Howie Kendrick, Nick Markakis, Hunter Pence and Rick Porcello
Out of the 27 players and ambassadors named to the ballot likely less than half will end up getting in but at the same time just to be named is an honor for these former players.
