Toronto Blue Jays looking at reunion with two-time all-star pitcher

The Blue Jays bullpen already looks a lot better than it did at the end of the season as they have added Tyler Rogers and a few other pitchers but the front office has made it clear they want to continue to add.

The Dodgers bullpen in the World Series was the real difference maker which put them over the edge and helped them beat the Blue Jays which is why Toronto has been so focused on adding to it for next season.

A suggestion that was recently made would see the Blue Jays reunite with Yates who is still a free agent after coming off a rough 2025 season with the Dodgers.

In 2025, Yates finished with a 5.23 ERA in 41.1 innings across 50 games last season with 3 saves, 52 strike outs and a 4-3 record.

While 2025 did not go as planned, Yates is only one year removed from an incredible 2024 campaign with the Texas Rangers where he finished with a 1.17 ERA and 33 saves.

The first time Yates came to Toronto on a one year deal in 2021 did not go as expected as he ended hurting himself and needed season ending Tommy John surgery before his year even started.

This would be the perfect redemption for Yates and the Blue Jays as he looks to erase his rough 2025 season and make up for 2021 with the Blue Jays.

Since Yates is at the end of his career and coming off a down year the Blue Jays might be able to land him at a decent price which would also help the payroll with how much they are looking to spend this off-season.
