Toronto Blue Jays linked to former Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Erick Fedde as they could look to sign him to a minor league deal.

Toronto keeps shopping the bargain bin for innings, and that is fine. A non-roster flyer is about April and May survival, not headline day.
Fedde is 32, and his track record is simply volume. He's appeared in 165 big league games, with 772 2/3 innings and 589 strikeouts on the ledger.
Fedde was a 2014 first-round pick by the Washington Nationals, 18th overall out of UNLV. In 2025 he posted a 5.22 ERA with St. Louis, then an 8.10 ERA in Atlanta before landing in Milwaukee.
The Brewers portion is the hook, seven relief outings, 16 innings, and a 3.38 ERA, even with as many walks as strikeouts. It's messy, but it shows he can adapt when the starter plan dies.

Erick Fedde fits Toronto Blue Jays depth

Statcast had hitters batting .304 against his 2025 sinker, but only .191 against the sweeper, with a 26% whiff rate on that breaker. If the Jays can steer usage, the sweeper-cutter combo might play.
It's easy to forget he reinvented himself in Korea in 2023, then came back to post a 3.30 ERA across 31 starts in 2024. Toronto's pitching group has made similar fix-it bets before.
Fedde is supposed to live on ground balls, yet his sinker gets hit hard when it leaks up. That's why a minor league deal works, you're buying a swingman tryout, not a rotation lock.
On a non-roster invite, the only real cost is a spring locker and a stack of Grapefruit League innings. Those innings matter when you're managing workloads and trying not to burn out the bullpen.
In Triple-A he could be first call when a starter tweaks something, or when the bullpen needs length after a short outing. If it clicks, Toronto banks innings, and if not, they move on fast.
