The Blue Jays announce that Jose Urena will start against the Angels
Toronto recently placed Max Scherzer on 60 day IL and to help find his replacement, they signed pitcher Jose Urena to a one year deal on a major league contract in hopes that he could be the solution.
Jose Urena has signed a one-year, major league contract with the @BlueJays
According to reports, Urena will be making his first start for the Blue Jays tonight when they stat their series against the Angels which is a bit of a surprise since he was officially signed yesterday.
José Urena now officially tonight's starter, the #BlueJays say.
Last season Urena had a solid year in Texas with the Rangers where he finished with a 3.80 ERA in 109 innings pitched but things have not gone as well for him this season as in 3 innings with the Mets as he had a 15.00 ERA in that time.
It will be interesting to see how he ends up doing for the Blue Jays in his first start and if he really can be Scherzer's replacement.
