Blue Jays manager John Schneider speaks on Vladimir Guerrero Jr situation
Pitchers and catchers officially reported in Dunedin this morning as Spring Training has officially kicked off for them and before they began, John Schneider spoke to the media making some worrying comments.
Schneider was asked about the
Guerrero negotiations in which he did not sound confident at all, he stated that they hope they can get a deal done to keep him in Toronto but that the team's main focus is just about getting better.
John Schneider on Vladimir Guerrero Jr.:
«We all want Vlad to be here. Ross has said that and I've said that. You just keep working towards it and hopefully it happens, but our conversations have really been about this year and how we can get better.» #BlueJays
The biggest issue here is that Schneider does not seem to be very confident that a deal will get done as he tried to switch the conversation to the team's main goal for the upcoming season.
The Blue Jays are running out of time to sign Guerrero as he stated he will not negotiate past the start of practice at Spring Training which is now only 5 days away.
If the Blue Jays do not sign Guerrero and end up keeping him as they apparently have no plan on trading him, there might be some seriously bad blood in the clubhouse this season.
Fans have their fingers crossed than an agreement will be reached but it certainly does not look promising.
