The Toronto Blue Jays head office cannot only be focused on the postseason, because immediately after they have lots of work to do, with lots of uncertainty regarding their starting pitcher rotation, a big name to look at this winter is Framber Valdez.
Toronto Blue Jays named favourites to land Framber Valdez.
Many notable players are hitting the free agency market like, Shane Bieber, Bo Bichetter, Chris Bassitt and Max Scherzer which is why will need to re-bolster their pitching rotation and that's where Valdez comes in.
"Valdez would be perfect for the team, as he could slot in between Gausman and Yesavage in 2026, and then take the former's place atop the rotation after his contract expires at the end of next season"-Ferraro
Valdez has been solid for the Houston Astros, in 188 games pitched with 166 of them being starts, Valdez has recorded a 3.36 career ERA in a six year career with the Astros. He is coming off his worst year this year, but remains to be a top tier pitcher in the American League.
"2025 was Valdez's toughest season with the Astros with finishing the year with a 13-11 record with a 3.66 ERA in 192 innings pitched, but he was still one of the Astros' top pitchers. Valdez is also a two-time All-Star and 2022 World Series champion. Signing Valdez would also help him reunite with his former Astros teammate George Springer in Toronto."-Ferraro
It will be crucial for the Toronto Blue Jays to start planning now. They are losing a lot of key players, and it's only been one year where they have been true contenders, it would be a shame to only experience this success for such a short period of time.
