The Toronto Blue Jays officially announced multiple new signings as they have closed 5 minor league deals which all include Spring Training invitations.

Toronto made it official on Wednesday, signing five free agents to minor league contracts with non roster invites to big league spring training. These moves rarely change March headlines, but they can quietly save a season.
OFFICIAL: We've signed the following free agents to Minor League deals with invites to #SpringTraining.

🔹 DH Eloy Jiménez
🔹 INF Carlos Mendoza
🔹 LHP Michael Plassmeyer
🔹 RHP Jorge Alcala
🔹 INF Rafael Lantigua
Eloy Jimenez is the name that jumps off the screen, because the bat has mattered before. In 2019 he smashed 31 home runs with an .828 OPS, then followed with 14 homers and an .891 OPS in 2020.
Those are real middle order seasons, even if they feel like a lifetime ago now. Jiménez turns 29 this winter, and the Blue Jays can take a shot without a 40 man commitment.
On the pitching side, Jorge Alcala is the kind of low risk arm teams stash for bullpen chaos. He has exactly 200 MLB games on his ledger, and a 4.29 career ERA, but his 2025 line was a rough 6.22.

Eloy Jiménez boosts Toronto Blue Jays depth

I love the idea of buying upside without blocking younger bats. That's the cleanest way to add competition, and it usually makes camp sharper.
Michael Plassmeyer fits the same theme on the mound, a lefty who can cover innings when the schedule gets ugly. He was a fourth round pick by Seattle in 2018, and he has already tasted the majors.
The infield adds are quieter, but they matter when injuries pile up in April. Carlos Mendoza and Rafael Lantigua give Toronto more gloves and more options for Buffalo, which is never a bad thing.
While fans might not see this as groundbreaking moves and are hoping to see more big signings like landing Kyle Tucker, these signings could end up having a big impact.
Last season, the Blue Jays had a ton of players from Addison Barger to Nathan Lukes and Myles Straw that people did not see as impact players but all 3 ended up having a huge role for Toronto in the playoffs.
