Toronto Blue Jays pitcherAlek Manoah made his first start for the Buffalo Bisons in Triple-A this afternoon and things went quite poorly.

The Blue Jays announced yesterday that Manoah would be making a jump from Double-A to Triple-A and would make his first start which fans were hoping would go well.

Alek Manoah pulled early in first Triple-A start

Manoah made two starts in Double-A over the last few weeks that didn't exactly go to plan but were not terrible either which is why many were hoping he could end up returning towards the end of the season.
Unfortunately things went poorly this afternoon for Manoah as he was pulled from the game after only 1.2 innings pitched, giving up 2 hits and 3 runs in that time with a total of 49 pitches including 27 that were strikes.
Alek Manoah's AAA rehab start drew to an early end with 2 outs in the 2nd inning.

1.2 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 3 BB (1 HBP), 1 K & 49 pitches (27 strikes)

Between Manoah's command & underlying results, it's clear he still needs more time as he recovers from UCL surgery. #BlueJays
Alek Manoah's first AAA rehab start is over:

1.2IP 2H 3BB 1K 3ER
49 pitches (27 strikes)

With Toronto's SP depth in a decent spot, it's mainly about stretching out and getting Alek back to form for 2026, at this point. But the results will start to matter eventually. #BlueJays
This is certainly far from what the Blue Jays were hoping for but if things do not improve drastically over his next few starts, there is a good chance that they end up keeping him in the minors until next season.
