Blue Jays pitcher Jacob Barnes has elected free agency
The Blue Jays announced last week that they decided to DFA reliever Jacob Barnes after a few rough outings which resulted in him being placed on waivers for any team to pick up.
According to the latest reports, Barnes ended up clearing waivers and instead of going to the minor leagues, he has decided to elect for free agency where he will try to land a new contract.

Jays have already used 12 relievers in 23 games. Expect that end of the bullpen churn to continue, at least until Erik Swanson is back up.
The Blue Jays signed
Barnes to a minor league deal with a Spring Training invitation during the off-season and despite being assigned to the Buffalo Bisons, he started the season off with the Blue Jays due to injuries.
Barnes in 8 innings for the Blue Jays this season finishing with a rough 9.00 ERA in those games with only 5 strikeouts across 6 games which is why it is no surprise he was DFA'd.
It will be interesting to see if another team ends up giving him a chance of a major league deal or if he will end up in the minors.
