Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette is having an incredible bounce back season in 2025 but it looks like his game has not been perfect according to reports.

Many expect Bichette to land a massive deal this off-season due to his rise in production at the plate as his contract numbers is expected to be more than $200 million.

Blue Jays Bo Bichette ranked the worst shortstop in the MLB

While Bichette has been incredible at the plate this season, he has always been known to struggle when it comes to his defensive game which is one of his flaws.
In a recent reports by Joel Reuters of Bleacher Report, Bichette was ranked as the worst defensive shortstop in the entire MLB due to his minus -11 defensive runs saved plus his minus -10 outs above average.
"With minus-11 defensive runs saved to his name and a figure of minus-10 outs above average attributed to him, it's easy to see why Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report listed Bichette as the worst defensive shortstop in Major League Baseball this year." -Wakai

While there we hopes that his game was improving during the 2021 and 2022 season, his numbers have once again plummeted and he is having his worst defensive season ever.
"He took a nice step forward with his glove work between 2021 (-16 DRS, -7 OAA) and 2022 (5 DRS, -3 OAA), but he is now in the midst of arguably the worst defensive season of his career," -Reuters

This creates a surprising problem for the Blue Jays as the have to figure out if they want to sign him to an extension and on one side they have his offense that has been great lately but on the other side it is his defense which has been quite bad.
"This creates an interesting dilemma for both Bichette and Toronto as he gets set to hit the open market after the season where he's expected to command a pricy contract in free agency." -Wakai

This is a tough look for Bichette who is seen as one of the Blue Jays star players but his defensive numbers clearly need to improve.
It will be interesting to see if these defensive numbers play a part in the Blue Jays decisions to re-sign him or not.
