Since the beginning of the off-season, the Toronto Blue Jays have been the favorites to land Kyle Tucker but it looks like that might no longer be the case.
Toronto Blue Jays no longer favorites to land Kyle Tucker
Many insiders and reporters believed that the Blue Jays would be the favorites to land Tucker because they would be the team willing to offer him the most money and because they were so high on him but it looks like their priorities have chanced.
«All these things are in play for the Blue Jays,» Rosenthal said on Fair Territory on Monday. «I imagine Tucker and (Cody) Bellinger, to an extent, are as well. Their need, their greater need, is in the infield. The Blue Jays, you can see the logic there.» -Jon Morosi
In a perfect world the Blue Jays would add both Tucker along with an infielder like Bo Bichette or Alex Bregman but that seems unlikely due to the fact that it would cost them more than $500 million to land.
While this does not guarantee that the Blue Jays are walking away from Tucker, it does point to the fact that they are not solely interested in him which can also be seen as a positive.
The Blue Jays have learned the hard way over the last few years that focusing on only one player and missing out on him during the off-season can put them in a very tough spot.
