Toronto Blue Jays sign former Detroit Tigers infielder
The Toronto Blue Jays have announce their first signing of the off-season as they have signed infielder Carlos Mendoza to a minor league deal.
The Blue Jays have been taking their time signing a player so far this off-season as they have been linked to a few huge names but had yet to close a deal until tonight.
The Blue Jays sign Carlos Mendoza
Mendoza who was part of the Detroit Tigers organization until he elected free agency at the end of the season announced that he has officially signed with the Blue Jays this evening.
The 25 year old infielder spent time in Double-A and Triple-A last season as he finished with 7 home runs, 41 RBIs, a .287 batting average and .394 on base percentage across both leagues.

The 25 year old slashed .287/.394/.409 across Double-A and Triple-A in 2025 as a part of the Tigers organization
He also tallied 7 HR and 41 RBI with 12 SB. Walked 53 times, struck out 45 times across 97 games

While Blue Jays fans were hoping for a bit of a bigger signing for the team's first contract of the off-season, this move with Mendoza seems to be a positive for the farm system.
Mendoza's deal as of right now does not include a major league Spring Training invite but could be subject to change over the next few months.
Tigers AA/AAA utility guru, Carlos Mendoza has signed with the Toronto Blue Jays, according to his instagram.
Hopefully this signing is the beginning of some big moves to come for the Blue Jays this off-season.
