Freddie Freeman defends himself after stealing second with fractured ankle

The Los Angeles Dodgers have began their series against the San Diego Padres last night with star Freddie Freeman in the lineup despite a fractured ankle.
Freeman has decided to play on a bad ankle that he injured at the end of the season where he should be out for 4-6 weeks, Freeman has dug deep down and found a way to push through the pain.
Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman was an unexpected addition to the lineup for Game 1 of the NLDS against the San Diego Padres after spraining his ankle in late September, which created pessimism from the Dodgers that he would be able to play. His prospects for seeing playing time are complicated further since Shohei Ohtani, recovering from UCL surgery, occupies the designated hitter role for the Dodgers full-time. -Wilson
During the game, Freeman surprisingly decided to steal second base which fans thought was a questionable move especially with his bad ankle.
Freeman was quick to defend his decision stating that he would not have dressed for the game if he did not feel good and like he could help the Dodgers beat the Padres but did state that he got lucky.
"I felt good enough. If I can't play the game the right way then I shouldn't be out there, and I needed to go in that situation if they are going to try to give me 90 feet. I think I got lucky."

Clearly Freeman is a warrior as he is willing to put his health and well being on the line to help his team with the series at take one step closer to the World Series which is why all the players battle through injuries like this.
