The Toronto Blue Jays are looking at a possible trade involving Jose Berrios and a recent proposal between them and the San Diego Padres was announced.

There has been rumors that the Blue Jays have been in contact with multiple teams about potential trades which is why there has been so many proposal flying around.

Blue Jays could land 2x time all-star in trade proposal

The Blue Jays seem to be shopping around a potential trade involving Berrios since they no longer seem to have room in their starting rotation for him especially with the arrival of Dylan Cease and Cody Ponce.

A recent proposal stated that the Blue Jays could move Berrios to the Padres in exchange for infielder Jake Cronenworth and left handed pitcher Yuki Matsui.

Blue Jays receive: 2B Jake Cronenworth, RP Yuki Matsui
Padres receive: SP José Berrios

This trade could make a lot of sense for the Blue Jays because this would be one of the only unique situations where Toronto would not be forced to retain any of Berrios' salary due to Cronenworth's current contract as he is owed $12.3 million until 2030.

Based on Cronenworth's remaining contract (owed approximately $12.3 million per season through 2030), this might be the only trade that wouldn't require the Blue Jays to retain salary on Berrios' deal. -Hall

The Padres are in desperate need of another starting pitcher ever since Cease left for Toronto earlier this off-season which is why this trade could make a lot of sense.

As rumors continue to build that Bichette might not be returning to Toronto, bringing in Cronenworth to play second base while Andres Gimenez plays shortstop could make a lot of sense.

Once again a big part of this is finding out what the plan is for Bichette as this move would not make sense if the Blue Jays end up holding onto him.

Bringing in Matsui as well would be a perfect fit since the Blue Jays are looking for left handed pitchers to add to their bullpen and he would be a great addition.
