The Arizona Diamondbacks announced that they have agreed to terms with former Toronto Blue Jays right handed pitcher Junior Fernandez.
The Blue Jays have been busy in free agency this evening as well as they just announced that they have signed former Padres ace Dylan Cease to a massive new deal.
Former Blue Jays pitcher Junior Fernandez signs with the Diamondbacks
The Diamondbacks announced that they have agreed to a one year, minor league deal with Fernandez.
Diamondback fans seem to be quite happy with the news as Fernandez has some great velocity and whiff rates despite not pitching in the MLB since the 2022 season with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Fernandez' time with the Blue Jays organization did not last very long as he was claimed off waivers from the New York Yankees in December 2022 and would end up being released in August 2023 after spending the season in Triple-A.
In his last season in the MLB, Fernandez put up some solid numbers as he finished with a 2.41 ERA in 18.2 innings pitched with 14 strike outs in a total of 16 games.
Over the last couple of years, Fernandez has dealt with some consistency issues which is why he has yet to be called back up to the MLB as he finished with a 4.40 ERA last season in Triple-A.
