The Toronto Blue Jays just announced a massive new deal as they have signed former San Diego Padres pitcher Dylan Cease to a massive new deal.
The Blue Jays were rumored to be all in on trying to acquire a new starting pitcher to add to their rotation for the 2026 season and were rumored to be interested in Cease.
Blue Jays agree to 7 year contract with Dylan Cease
MLB insider Jon Heyman just announced that the Blue Jays have agreed to a 7 year deal with Cease worth $210 million with an average salary of $30 million per season.
Breaking: Dylan Cease to Blue Jays. $210M, 7 years
To say that Blue Jays fans are excited about such a big signing this early into the off-season is an understatement as GM Ross Atkins has been known to take things slow at the start of winter.
Well damn...
So much for having to wait until December or January for #BlueJays to strike. What a bold statement!
This is quite the shocking deal as the Blue Jays add Cease who finished with 4.55 ERA last season with the Padres to go along with a 8-12 record in 168 innings pitched.
Last season was a bit of a down year for Cease as he finished with a very solid 3.47 ERA the prior season.
It will be interesting to see if the Blue Jays end up adding even more to their rotation or stick to just this one massive signing for next season.
