Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Shane Bieber just returned from Tommy John Surgery late this season and it looks like his most decision has brought up some injury worries.

Earlier this month, Bieber announced that he decided to accept his player option and return to Toronto which many were surprised to find out since he would have gotten a lot more on the open market.

Health concerns arise with Shane Bieber

Most MLB executives could not believe that Bieber decided to return to the Blue Jays for $16 million next season as the majority were expecting him to opt-out.
«Across the industry, executives remain baffled by right-hander Shane Bieber's decision to exercise his $16 million player option with the Blue Jays, calling it one of the most bizarre in recent memory,» -Rosenthal

This decision has now many wondering about Bieber's health since they believe that he might have decided to stay in Toronto instead of having to deal with physical examinations of another team if he were to sign elsewhere in free agency.
«Bieber, who joined the Blue Jays in a deadline trade, evidently trusts the Jays' medical and training staffs to help him continue his recovery,» Rosenthal added. «But some executives wonder if he is concerned about his health. By exercising his player option, he avoided the physical examination required of free agents before their contracts become official.» -Rosenthal

While Bieber clearly has recovered well from Tommy John surgery, it is also believed that he trust the Blue Jays training staff to continue to help him improve.
There is no guarantee that Bieber is not fully healthy but it looks like there is a chance that he did not want another team looking to deeply into his arm and point out some issues.
The good news is that the Blue Jays have him returning on a great annual value and will be able to now use that money elsewhere to help improve the team.
