Blue Jays broadcaster Buck Martinez confirms fate with the team after this season
The Toronto Blue Jays have had an off season when it comes to their broadcaster Buck Martinez who has missed quite a few games due to health issues and during a recent interview he spoke of his future with the team.
Martinez recently took some time off from baseball to handle his battle with cancer but returned in September for the second time this season this season.
Buck Martinez speaks on his future with the Blue Jays
The Blue Jays broadcaster has had a big year with his battle off the field which has had many fans wondering if he will continue as one of the Blue Jays broadcaster moving forward.
Martinez touched on his future with the team during a recent interview, stating that he has spoken with his wife about it and they both feel like he will keep being a broadcaster since he still loves it.
"My wife and I, sure we have talked about it, but we both feel the same way,» the California native said. «We both feel I'm still pretty good at this and we both know how much I love what I'm doing. So why would I walk away from it? There will be a time for that. But right now I feel really good." -Martinez
The Blue Jays long time broadcaster admitted that being away from the team this season while he was in treatment was not easy but that it has given him a new energy that he has returned with.
«Absolutely. Just like the players,» Martinez said. «When you have something taken away from you and you sit back and watch it from a distance, you appreciate what you have and you appreciate what you have been missing." -Martinez
A big portion of the reason Martinez wants to stick around is that he still has so much fun doing it every day and mentioned how great their entire broadcast team is.
«The guys I work with on the crew and everyone around the team, it's so much fun being here every day. It's just been great that way.» -Martinez
This is great news for the Blue Jays fans who will be able to continue to enjoy their time watching and listening to Martinez do his thing.
