The Toronto Blue Jays are looking to be very aggressive at the trade deadline this year and according to recent reports they will look to replace Tyler Heineman as they want to acquire a new catcher.

Atkins was clear during his press conference at the end of June that he plans on being an aggressive buyer at the trade deadline this year which will likely see them acquire at least a right handed hitter and a pitcher.

Blue Jays are apparently also looking into acquiring a new catcher at the trade deadline

In a recent report, MLB insider Bob Nightengale clearly stated that the Blue Jays are highly motivated to acquire a catcher and pitcher at the trade deadline this year.
Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins also boldly stated that the Blue Jays will be ultra-aggressive at the trade deadline, seeking a starter and a catcher. -Nightengale

Fans online were surprised to see that Nightengale stated that since no one seemed to notice that Atkins stated they needed a catcher during the press conference but it looks like that is the case after all.
Is Nightengale the only one who heard Atkins say they're looking for a catcher?
Clearly if the Blue Jays are looking to acquire a catcher it is not to replace Alejandro Kirk who has been unbelievable lately and just got selected for the all-star game as the back up catcher behind Cal Raleigh.
This means that the Blue Jays will likely look to replace Heineman which comes as a bit of a surprise since he has been playing quite well for the Blue Jays lately whenever they start him.
Clearly the Blue Jays see this as an area that needs improving and adding a more reliable back could only help since the Blue Jays lack depth at the catcher position.
