Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins speaks on team's trade deadline plans
News broke this morning that
Atkins planned on holding a press conference this afternoon to speak with the media regarding the team's trade deadline plans as he had yet to speak to the media in a while.
Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins will address the media this afternoon at Rogers Centre. Regularly scheduled availability where we should learn a little more about the team's plans for the next month or so.
Atkins stated that the Blue Jays are looking to add a right handed hitter at the deadline while also bringing in some pitching depth but did not specify if that is for the bullpen or rotation.
Ross Atkins says the #BlueJays have been looking to add a right-handed bat. Pitching depth sounds like another priority ahead of the deadline.
He adds that the Jays have had ownership support financially all along and that they should be able to «continue to flex that muscle.»
When it comes to aa pitcher regardless on if they look for a relief or starting pitcher both are needed but with Bowden Francis' struggles and Max Scherzer's thumb most would agree that a starting pitcher would help the most.
When it comes to right handed hitters, there are many solid options that will be available at the trade deadline but Taylor Ward or Dane Myers would like be the best fits for Toronto.
It will be interesting to see how all of this plays out over the next month at the deadline is officially a month away.
