Offensively, there aren't many glaring holes for the Blue Jays, but if there's one spot they could look to upgrade, it's third base.
Since trading Josh Donaldson in 2018, the team has struggles to find a long-term answer at the position.
Blue Jays eyeing star third baseman from Arizona.
Riley Delaney from Blue Jays Nation writes that Eugenio Suárez may not be the long-term answer at third base, but adding him would significantly boost the Blue Jays' offensive firepower.
This season, the Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman is slashing .255/.322/.569 with a 141 wRC+, and more impressively, he ranks fourth in the league with 28 home runs.
"Moreover, Suárez is usually good for about 30 home runs a season throughout his career. Sometimes it dips under, like his 22 in 2023, and sometimes it's well above 30, such as his 49 in 2019.
There's a good chance he'll be on the higher end of his home run total this season. Adding Suárez's bat to the lineup gives the Blue Jays a legitimate cleanup hitter in an area where they can afford to upgrade." -Delaney
The big question, however, is whether Suárez will even be on the market. The Diamondbacks are only three and a half games out of the final wild card spot, and with the trade deadline not until July 31st, there's still plenty of time for things to shift.
Pitching should remain the Blue Jays' top priority before the deadline, but if Suárez becomes available, he would be an excellent addition.
