Blue Jays divisional rival putting in big time offer to Bo Bichette

The MLB free agency this winter is anything but dull, the Toronto Blue Jays already made a splash with Dylan Cease and are motivated to retain Bo Bichette, but their AL East rival Boston Red Sox will try just as hard to sign the infielder.
The Red Sox are at risk of losing Alex Bregman and Bichette would be an excellent replacement for him despite the Blue Jays still being the favorites to land him.
Bo Bichette could be on his way to Boston with the Red Sox.
Patrick McAvoy of Red Sox SI reported on the growing interest of Bichette for the Red Sox. Their infield situation is extremely shaky right now, and Bichette would be the perfect fit to help solidify it.
"First base is completely up in the air after Triston Casas missed most of the 2025 season. Marcelo Mayer should be an everyday player, whether that means second base or third base. That will be contingent on whether the Red Sox make a move. Re-signing Alex Bregman would take third base off the table. What if he doesn't return, though? There are other infielders out there worth taking a look at."-McAvoy
Bichette would most like move to second or third base if he doesn't stay with Toronto. He is a below average short stop defensively but his bat is what makes him incredibly valuable. However one could argue keeping Bregman would be more important than acquiring Bichette.
"For Boston, a move only makes sense if Bregman doesn't return. Bichette is younger and would be a phenomenal Plan B, but Bregman was a leader for the organization and brings elite defense. It's interesting to see a team insider throw a name out there like Bichette, but only should be considered as a backup option."-McAvoy
The Blue Jays are in peculiar position, because Bichette won't be cheap, but they have several areas of need. They cannot waste all their resources on one player, but they move lose him to one of their biggest rivals.
