The Toronto Blue Jays are looking to make add to their bullpen this off-season and there is a possibility of a reunion with one of their former pitchers.
There has been some rumors that the Blue Jays might look to also bring back Alek Manoah who was recently non-tendered by the Atlanta Braves and is once again a free agent.
Blue Jays could look to bring back Derek Law
The Blue Jays are looking to improve their bullpen and their former pitcher Derek Law who is currently a free agent could be the perfect piece for that.
Last season, Law missed the entire year due to an injury that required surgery but in 2024 had a fantastic year with the Washington Nationals which is why he could be a low risk, high reward signing.
Unfortunately, Law injuries ended up wiping out practically his entire 2025 season. With the 35-year-old right-hander likely back to full health by the time 2026 rolls around, he could potentially be a low-risk, high-reward free agent option. -Eng
Law pitched for the Blue Jays back in 2019 after being acquired from the San Francisco Giants as part of the return for Kevin Pillar and would finish the season with a 4.90 ERA in 60.2 innings pitched to go along with 67 strike outs.
Law would end up spending just one season in Toronto, posting a 1-2 record with a 4.90 ERA, 1.67 WHIP, with 67 strikeouts in 60.2 innings pitched over 58 appearances that included four starts. -Eng
In 2024, Law put up great numbers for the Nationals as he had a 2.60 ERA in 90 innings pitched to go along with a 7-4 record and 76 strike outs.
If the Blue Jays bring Law back on a short term deal, he could end up having a huge up side if he is able to return to the pitcher he was in 2024.
