A recent trade proposal mentioned that the Toronto Blue Jays could close a trade with the New York Mets involving Jose Berrios.

Reports have suggested that the Blue Jays are now turning their attention towards possible trades which is why there has been so many proposal over the last few days.

Blue Jays could look at trade for infielder Jeff McNeil

Mitch Bannon recently reported on another possible trade that the Blue Jays could get involved in which would include Berrios going over to the Mets.
In this proposal, the Blue Jays would send Berrios to New York in exchange for two time all-star infielder Jeff McNeil.
Trading José Berrios for the Mets' Jeff McNeil would essentially be a cash-neutral move for 2026, with New York and Toronto exchanging areas of depth to fill holes," Bannon wrote Friday. "The Jays may need to add another piece to facilitate the trade, as Berrios' contract runs through the 2028 season, a year longer than McNeil's. -Bannon

The Blue Jays are expected to go after some big time hitters this off-season like Kyle Tucker but McNeil is seen as a solid back up option if they end up missing out on certain free agents.
Building a package for McNeil makes sense for the Jays if they whiff on free-agent bats, and New York could use reliable pitching. Though he's hovered around league average at the plate the last three seasons, McNeil fits what the Jays require this winter. -Bannon

Toronto clearly needs to free up space in their starting rotation and Berrios seems to be the odd man out which is why many believe he will be moved before the start of the 2026 season.
McNeil is not exactly a power hitter but could bring a very consistent bat to the Blue Jays lineup as he has had a batting average between .238 and .326 in his last four seasons.
