The Toronto Blue Jays will need to tender contracts to 4 players prior to the arbitration deadline tonight if not they risk losing them to free agency.
There has been some questions lately regarding Eric Lauer who is arbitration eligible and despite an incredible season in 2025, most believe that Toronto might look to let him go.
Blue Jays need to decide to 4 players prior to arbitration deadline
The MLB non-tender deadline hits tonight which could affect 4 current Blue Jays players.
For the players tendered contracts by tonight, they will have until January 8th to exchange figures and come to an agreement on a contract for next season, if they are unable to agree a number, they will have arbitration hearings which take place in February.
The Blue Jays have Tyler Heineman, Daulton Varsho, Ernie Clement and Lauer who are all arbitration eligible but due to recent roster moves, all 4 players are expected to be tendered contracts.
MLB's annual non-tender deadline is today at 5pm ET.
Many players will be non-tendered across MLB, but all four arb eligible Blue Jays (Varsho, Lauer, Clement, Heineman) are expected back in 2026. Jays already created 40-man space by parting ways with Sandlin, Tate & Burr.

All 4 players would certainly be hard to replace if they end up being non-tendered with the exception of maybe Heineman.
While Toronto does want to improve their lineup this off-season, making too many drastic changes during the off-season after being two innings away from winning the World Series would certainly be a mistake.
