Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Chris Bassitt recently entered free agency and it looks like he is expected to possibly leave for rival team in the off-season.
Chris Bassitt expected to receive lucrative deal from the New York Yankees
The Yankees starting rotation struggled in 2025 which is why they are looking at multiple options for next season which apparently could include Bassitt.
The Blue Jays may not have a spot for Bassitt in the rotation, and insider Steve Adams of MLBTradeRumors predicts he will leave Toronto and sign a two-year, $38 million deal with the New York Yankees in free agency. -Shelton
«Bassitt turns 37 in February, so he isn't going to secure another three-year contract. He should be able to secure a two-year deal at a decent annual rate. Bassitt still projects as a rock-solid fourth starter who takes the ball every fifth day." -Adams
The Blue Jays still seem to be in the mix as far as teams interested in Bassitt but they also have a lot of competition with the Yankees, Atlanta Braves, Arizona Diamondbacks, Baltimore Orioles, Houston Astros, San Francisco Giants and Athletics.
"Toronto may try to bring him back, but teams like the Braves, Yankees, Diamondbacks, Orioles, Astros, Angels, A's and Giants could all fit.» -Adams
This will certainly big a big off-season for Bassitt since this might be his last contract which means he might look at the biggest possible offer instead of the best situation or team with the best chance of winning.
