Blue Jays pitcher Cody Ponce makes unexpected announcement regarding WBC

Ross Atkins has been busy for the Toronto Blue Jays this winter, one of his acquisitions was pitcher Cody Ponce, Ponce might have to get ready for important baseball before he predicted, as he has been invited to play for Team Mexico at the World Baseball Classic.
Ponce has spent the last couple years playing in South Korea, and he'll have to get reacclimated to Major League Baseball.
Will Cody Ponce play for Team Mexico.
Jared Bloom of Sporting News reported Ponce's opportunity to make a big statement before the season started. Playing against the world's best, before the MLB regular season gets underway. However, Ponce still doesn't know if he wants to play in the tournament.
"As of right now, I am not 100% sure that I do want to play. But, as I am now a Toronto Blue Jay, I have to talk to my team and see what they want to do, and the best wishes for me from them"-Ponce
It shouldn't be too much of an issue for him to play, as he has several teammates already accepting their invitations to play. The Blue Jays will be well represented at the tournament. Just another example of how far the organization has come from just a couple years ago.
"There are multiple Blue Jays players who have already accepted their WBC invite. This includes Vladimir Guerrero Jr., George Springer, and Jose Berrios. So, with the club being well-represented, the front office should not have any problems with Ponce choosing to play for Team Mexico if he wants to accept the club's invite."-Bloom
It's too early to tell if Ponce will be effective for the Blue Jays, he has performed well in Korea, but now he is playing against the best in the world.
The WBC would be a good opportunity for him to get back into the swing of things in terms of competition, and allow the Blue Jays to see if they made the right decision signing him.
