The Toronto Blue Jays announced yesterday that starting pitcher Jose Berrios was being moved to the bullpen and he finally broke his silence ahead of tonight's game.
Jose Berrios breaks silence on being moved to the bullpen
The Blue Jays shocked fans when they decided to move Berrios to the bullpen even though a move needed to be made with how well Trey Yesavage pitched in his first game.
Berrios spoke to Keegan Matheson this evening and clearly was not pleased with the move as he stated he isn't happy and did not want to talk about it but added that he will put his team first regardless.
We just spoke with José Berrios about his move to the bullpen.
«I don't feel happy to talk about it. Putting that aside, I put my team first. I was able to be out there to help my team.»
Berrios said the right things, as you'd expect, but his frustration was clear. #BlueJays
The veteran pitcher added that the bullpen is uncharted territory to him and that he simply does not know what he will do but he will continue to be a good teammate through these tough times.
Berrios says he's been talking with the relievers, but the bullpen is foreign to him. As for what he can do to adapt:
«Honestly, I don't know. I don't know how to respond I can help my team right now, just be a good teammate, be there for them, support them.» #BlueJays
Clearly this move needed to be made with how Berrios has been pitching this season but at the same time if he does not carry a positive attitude in the clubhouse this could become a big issue for Toronto.
