The Toronto Blue Jays took quite the beating last night as they lost 20-1 to the Kansas City Royals and after the game manager John Schneider announced that a veteran pitcher would be sent to the bullpen.
Blue Jays officially send Jose Berrios to the bullpen
Toronto has been having issues lately with their bullpen with multiple pitchers struggling which is why this new move could end up benefitting them quite a bit.
Schneider told reporters yesterday after the game that Jose Berrios would be coming out of the bullpen moving forward but there is still a chance he could start a game depending on how things go moving forward.
Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Jose Berrios was a possibility out of the bullpen tonight and "will be going forward."
"He can still start for us," Schneider added. "But with where we are right now, he can be an option out of the 'pen, too."
Berrios is likely feeling it after this move as he has been one of the Blue Jays most consitent starters in terms of staying healthy over the last few years but it looks like his numbers were simply not good enough to keep him in the rotation over Yesavage.
It will be interesting to see how he ends up pitching out of the bullpen as he has not been in that role in years.
This could end up being a great move for the Blue Jays but it all comes down to how Berrios handles it moving forward.
