Blue Jays Ross Atkins announces problematic injury update on Shane Bieber at Winter Meetings

Toronto Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins met with reporters at the Winter Meetings this afternoon and gave an injury update on starting pitcher Shane Bieber.
The Blue Jays are expected to make some big moves at the Winter Meetings this week which is why multiple trade rumors have been flying around.
Ross Atkins speaks on Shane Bieber's current injury status
Atkins spoke to the media about a number of topics including Bieber's current health status as he admitted that he was not at 100% when he came back from surgery in September.
According to Atkins, Bieber is in a strong position and the team expects him to be to ready for the start of the 2026 season.

Per Atkins, Shane Bieber is expected to be ready for opening day. Atkins described Bieber's progress as week to week & acknowledged Jays may watch his workload in spring.

The bad news here is that the Blue Jays do not seem to certain on where Bieber is currently at as they continue to take things week by week.
However, the Blue Jays might look at watching Bieber's workload for Spring Training but that they expect him to be ready to go for Opening Day in late March.
The Blue Jays fan base as many were worried that he was in bad shape after accepting his player option to remain in Toronto as rumors flew around that he was trying to avoid a physical by doing so.
Hopefully this is nothing too serious and Atkins is right that Bieber will be ready for the start of the year.
Due to all the additions the Blue Jays made this off season and this injury update on Bieber, Toronto will be heading into the season with one of the strongest starting rotations on paper.
