The Toronto Blue Jays have yet to close on a contract extension with shortstop Bo Bichette who has been playing incredibly and his contract value has continued to rise.
Blue Jays will likely now have to pay Bo Bichette over $200 million
Baseball Writers Association of America's Brandon Wile recently went on Sportsnet 590 The Fan and spoke of how Bichette could be expecting as much as $200-$250 million in his next contract due to the timing of it all.
"After doing a little more digging, I think he probably falls in the $200M-$250M range... I think Bo [Bichette] is going to hit the market at exactly the right time."

Bichette was coming off the worst season of his career in 2024 and if Ross Atkins signed him at the start of the season, they would have gotten an incredible deal but as he continues to dominate and lead the league in hits, the Blue Jays will likely have to make him a massive over to persuade him from walking away.
Bo Bichette is in a league of his own when it comes to hits this year
Many compared Bichette's next contract to the one Willy Adames signed in the off-season valued at $182 million but now with his dominant performance in 2025, Bichette will probably surpass $200 million.
Hopefully the Blue Jays will find a way to keep him in Toronto but for the time being, it certainly seems like Atkins will have a hard time doing so if he does not plan on making him a massive offer.
