Free agent Bo Bichette has decided to refuse the Blue Jays qualifying offer made last week which comes as no surprise since everyone expected this to happen.

The Blue Jays extended a qualifying offer to Bichette last week which is worth $22.025 million for one year but it was never expected for him to accept the deal.

Bo Bichette refuses the Blue Jays qualifying offer

The MLB deadline for qualifying offer was this afternoon at 4 PM but despite some players around the league being maybe when it came to their offers, Bichette was not one of them.
At 4pm today, all qualified players must decide if they take the one-year, $22.025 million deal.

There are a couple maybes around the league, #BlueJays SS Bo Bichette is not one of them.
As expected, Bichette refused the offer and will now look to continue his negotiations or trying to land a long term deal which will hopefully be with the Blue Jays.
Final accounting on qualifying offers, per sources:

Trent Grisham (Yankees), Gleyber Torres (Tigers), Brandon Woodruff (Brewers) and Shota Imanaga (Cubs) all accepted the one-year, $22.025 million contract to return for 2026.

The nine other players offered rejected the deal.
While Toronto is still considered the favorites to land Bichette some teams seem to be very interested with the latest report suggesting that the Boston Red Sox will be making a big push for the shortstop.
According to multiple sources, the Red Sox are showing interest in free agent infielder Bo Bichette (who happens to be a former teammate of Craig Breslow).
If the Blue Jays end up missing out on Bichette, having him sign with their divisional rivals in Boston would crush the fan base who has grown to love him during his time in Toronto.
The Blue Jays will definitely have to surpass $200 million on their contract offer to Bichette if they want to compete with other teams offers to him this off-season.
