The Boston Red Sox announced this morning that they have agreed to a deal with former Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Vinny Capra.

The free agency market has been rolling over the last few days with multiple signings including other former Blue Jays such as Junior Fernandez who signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Red Sox announced that they have come to an agreement on a minor league deal with Capra but it has yet to be announced if the deal includes a major league Spring Training invitation.
Red Sox have signed Vinny Capra to a minor-league deal.

Struggled badly in 2025 after a ridiculous spring training. Ended up posting a -6 OPS in 47 games between the Brewers and White Sox.

Can play 3B, 2B, SS, LF. Another depth option moving forward.
Capra has bounced around quite a bit since making his MLB debut with the Blue Jays back in 2022 as last season he split his time between the Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago White Sox where he finished with 1 home run and 6 RBIs in 47 games.
The Blue Jays drafted Capra back in 20th round of the 2018 MLB draft and held onto him until 2023 when he was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for catcher Tyler Heineman.
While struggling in the majors, Capra has always put up decent numbers in the minors which continues to give reasons for teams to call him back up to the majors.
Hopefully Capra will get another chance to prove himself with the Red Sox next season.
