The Toronto Blue Jays let down starting pitcher Chris Bassitt after a dominant performance against the Kansas City Royals which resulted in a 7-4 loss.
Blue Jays pitcher Chris Bassitt Opens up after being let down by teammates
Bassitt had a brilliant performance against the Royals yesterday as he gave up only 1 hit and 1 earned run in 6 innings pitched while striking out 5 batters but the Blue Jays still ended up with the loss.
During a postgame interview with the Toronto Star, Bassitt stated that these type of loses are part of baseball and he believes that the team just needs to get back to doing good pitching across the board and grind out at bats.
«You just take your licks,» Bassitt said. «It's going to happen through the year.
«It's just getting back to who we are as a team, good pitching from the starters to the bullpen and just grind out at-bats.» -Bassitt
The Blue Jays pitcher also spoke on the disappointing series against the Baltimore Orioles in which he said Toronto was simply not ready for Baltimore's red hot offense.
«Then I thought we just laid an egg in Baltimore, where we ran into a super-hot Baltimore offence, and we just weren't ready for it,» -Bassitt
Clearly Bassitt believes in his teammates and know that they can play better than they have been which is why his message was so positive after a tough loss like he had last night.
The Blue Jays will now look to bounce back against the struggling Rockies tonight in a series that they should walk away from victorious.
