Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Chris Bassitt recently opened up about his thoughts on GM Ross Atkins during an interview ahead of the trade deadline.

Bassitt recently stated that he wants the team to make sure they acquire players with high characters at the trade deadline as they do not want the morale of the team to be dragged down.

Chris Bassitt states how he feels about Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins

Toronto has used Bassitt's opinion in the past before making moves like when they asked him about Max Scherzer, his former teammate in New York, before signing him in the off-season but it looks like they aren't doing that for the trade deadline.
Bassitt had conversations with the Blue Jays' front office about Scherzer, informing them of the intangibles that his close friend and teammate with the New York Mets brings behind the scenes. However, those types of discussions aren't happening in the lead up to the trade deadline, according to Bassitt. -Singh

When asked about this, Bassitt stated that the entire team trusts Atkins when it comes to the deadline and believe he will make the right move which is why he believes they just need to focus on the games ahead.
"No, I think the front office has more than earned all the players' trust in that aspect," he said. "They know what they're doing. Right now, we're just worried about what we need to control and letting Ross do his thing." -Bassitt

Clearly the Blue Jays vetran pitcher has quite a bit of faith in Atkins as he stated that he knows the GM will make the right moves to improve the team at the trade deadline.
The Blue Jays have been linked to some incredible players lately as the trade deadline is only one week away and the fans seem quite eager to see who Atkins ends up landing.
At this point it seems to be a guarantee that Toronto will be landing a pitcher at the deadline, whether it is for the bullpen, the starting rotation or both.
