The Toronto Blue Jays suffered a heartbreaking game 7 loss in the World Series, and the best hockey player in the world Connor McDavid was tuning in, in between shifts of his most recent game against the Chicago Blackhawks.
It goes to show how much this team meant to all of Canada, including athletes in other sports.
McDavid admits to watching baseball game in the middle of his own game.
Preston Hodgkinson of the Daily Hive reported on McDavid's surprising admission, normally professional athletes are so locked in and focused to what they're doing, especially players of McDavid's caliber.
However, in this case he was more interested in the Blue Jays than the Oilers winning a regular season game.
"Fans in the arena seemed glued to the action, even with an NHL game happening right in front of them. After the game, McDavid admitted to reporters that he was watching in between shifts as well."-Hodgkinson
McDavid couldn't help but watch Canada's team lose in heartbreaking fashion to the Los Angeles Dodgers, with a two run lead in the 8th inning, the Blue Jays gave up two solo home-runs and the rest was history in extra innings.
"That was really, really strange. Strange to have it on during the game, listening to the crowd, was distracting for sure. It was bizarre, I found myself watching the Jays game sitting on the bench. Listening to the crowd while I'm on the ice Historic moment, couldn't be more gutted for those guys.»-McDavid
Everyone empathizes with the Blue Jays, who could have won their first World Series in 30 years. And to lose the way they did in game 7 extra innings, it will be one of the most unforgettable runs in sports history, despite them losing.
