Former Toronto Blue Jays relief pitcher Jay Jackson decided to retire earlier this season and has found a new role a coach in which he has been thriving in.

Jackson was supposed to go play in the Mexican league this season but before leaving decided to retire instead after 17 seasons and entire the world of coaching.
Jackson had signed to go play in Mexico for the 2025 season, but before he travelled there to continue playing, he decided to retire. The decision to do so concluded a 17-year professional career that included stops in the United States, Canada, Japan, Mexico, and Venezuela. -Stack

After announcing his retirement from baseball, Jackson decided to join the West Virginia Black Bears in the MLB Draft League as a coach, a role that he seems to be loving.
Following retirement, Jackson stepped right into the coaching world, taking the reins as the pitching coach for the West Virginia Black Bears of the MLB Draft League. Although the league itself is still very young, the Black Bears have won the MLB Draft League Championship twice during the first four seasons that the league has been active. -Stack

During a recent interview, Jackson spoke on how much he loves his new role, helping these young players develop not only on the field but off of it as well since he knows not all of them will get drafted.
«The guys that I have this year are a lot of high school and college guys, so this year, I'm going to be trying to teach them how to be the best versions of themselves going forward. Even if they get drafted, there's chance that these guys don't make it to the big leagues,» Jackson said on his role this season. «I definitely want them to have these principles that I'm leaving with them now, not only baseball, but with life to be the best versions of themselves.» -Jackson

Clearly Jackson has found his new calling and with all the experience he has over a 17 year career, there are few former players that they young men can look to that have more knowledge than him.
If Jackson continues to excel in this new role, there is a chance he could return to Toronto as a coach just like Kevin Kiermaier.
