Former Toronto Blue Jays all-star pitcher Robbie Ray had some important words for Blue Jays pitcher Alek Manoah after his first start with the FCL Blue Jays that went terribly.

During a recent interview, Ray who played for the Blue Jays in 2020 and 2021 stated that he is very close with Manoah who is still recovering from Tommy John Surgery and see's him as a brother.
Robbie Ray says Alek Manoah «is like a little brother to me,» and as the Blue Jays right-hander has been working his way back from reconstructive elbow surgery, the now-San Francisco Giants lefty has been sharing his own experiences with the Tommy John procedure. -Davidi

Ray stated that he has told Manoah that it takes time to get back to normal after Tommy John surgery and that it is a long process which he has gone through as well.
«He's a good kid and he's got a good head on his shoulders,» Ray said of Manoah. «Just trying to talk him through the process and the recovery, understanding that it takes time to get the feel back, takes time to really feel normal again.» -Ray

After Manoah tough first game back earlier this week, Ray mentioned how in his first game back he had a very similar situation in which he felt like he had no control on the ball which is his way on telling Manoah that all of this is normal.
«I felt great coming back and it's just, some days, you're going to go out there and you're not going to have a clue where the ball is going, even though you feel great, even though the ball's coming out great,» -Ray

This is all good news for Blue Jays fans who were a bit worried about Manoah's performance especially since he is expected back in the lineup in a few weeks.
Unfortunately for Manoah, no one will believe he can be a solid pitcher again until he goes out there and proves it.
