Former Toronto Blue Jays infielder Will Wagner was traded at the deadline to the San Diego Padres and finally spoke on the trade during an interview.

The Padres have had Wagner in Triple-A ever since he was acquired and decided to finally call up him yesterday from El Paso as Jackson Merrill went down with an injury.

Former Blue Jays Will Wagner speaks on being traded by the Blue Jays

During a recent interview after being called up to the majors, Wagner spoke on how he felt after being traded by the Blue Jays stating that he was a bit shocked as he did not hear any rumors.
"A little shocked for sure, wasn't expecting to get traded. Didn't hear any rumors about me getting traded," Wagner told 97.3 The Fan upon joining the Padres. "I loved a lot of those guys in Toronto, but I'm excited to be here and be a Padre." -Wagner

Wagner added that he loved the guys in Toronto but is happy to be in San Diego and added that the adjustment to being sent to Triple-A to start was not too hard.
Will Wagner talks about being traded from the Blue Jays to the Padres, getting acclimated to the organization at AAA, and his potential role with the team after being called up earlier today.
The former Blue Jays was very humble in the interview stating that he just wants to be ready for whatever the Padres need from him in terms of which position they need him to play and things of that nature.
Wagner played in his first game with the Padres last night against the Los Angeles Dodgers where he only saw one plate appearance and ended up without a hit.
So this season in the the MLB, Wagner has a .235 batting average with 0 homeruns and 7 RBIs in 41 games to go along with a .333 on base percentage.
While the Blue Jays seemed to make it a necessity to trade Wagner since they were in need of catcher depth and to free up roster space for other trades at the deadline, fans were sad to see him go.
