Former Toronto Blue Jays infielder Wil Wagner is officially back in the MLB as he has been called up by the San Diego Padres.

The Blue Jays traded Wagner at the deadline to San Diego in exchange for minor league catcher Brandon Valenzuela which many thought was a strange move.

Former Blue Jay Will Wagner is back in the MLB

The Padres announced this afternoon that they have placed Jackson Merrill on 10-day IL yesterday and have decided to call up Wagner from the El Paso Chihuahuas in Triple-A.
Padres have recalled infielder Will Wagner from Triple-A. Acquired in trade from Blue Jays at deadline.
Expected to compete for roster spot next spring.
He will take the 26-man spot of Jackson Merrill, who was placed on the 10-day IL yesterday.

Wagner's numbers in the MLB this season have not been great as he has 0 homeruns, 7 RBIs, a .237 batting average and .336 on base percentage in 40 games with the Blue Jays.
While his numbers in the MLB has not been too good, in Triple-A he has been performing as he has 5 homeruns, 30 RBIs, a .270 batting average and .341 on base percentage in 40 games between El Paso and Buffalo.
Wagner has bounced up and down between the minors and majors quite a bit over the last few years but has had moment on greatness in the MLB proving that he can be a solid major leaguer.
