Former Toronto Blue Jays all-star Marcus Semien was just part of a blockbuster trade as the Texas Rangers decided to move him.
The off-season has begun but no real big moves have been made so far especially involving the Blue Jays but one of their former players just got dealt in a blockbuster trade.
Rangers trade former Blue Jays Marcus Siemen
The Rangers announced this evening that they have traded Semien to the New York Mets in exchange for outfielder Brandon Nimmo.
BREAKING: The New York Mets and Texas Rangers are finalizing a trade that would send second baseman Marcus Semien to the Mets and outfielder Brandon Nimmo to the Rangers, sources tell ESPN
Nimmo approved the deal and the deal is apparently one for one as the Mets are trying to improve their defense.
Nimmo approved the trade, which is straight up deal
Siemen only played one season with the Blue Jays during the 2021 season in which he finished with 45 home runs, 102 RBIs, a .265 batting average and .334 on base percentage.
Following the 2021 season, Semien would end up a free agent and ended up signing a big deal with the Rangers which is where he has been until now.
Semien's best season at the plate is still his solo year in Toronto as he has yet to break the 40 home run mark ever since.
Last season, Semien had a bit of a down year at the plate which is why the Rangers probably decided to move on from him and bring in Nimmo instead for next season.
